"Absence of limitations is the enemy of art." -Orson Wells OFFICIAL RULES Your team will have exactly 24 hours to complete your film, including conception, writing, arguing, shooting, fighting, editing, scoring, making up, etc.
The films are due at the deadline specified. 24 hours = 24 hours. There will be no extensions. Art cannot exist without deadlines. Films are limited to 5 MINUTES IN LENGTH - INCLUDING CREDITS.
Violating this rule will disqualify you from winning the big prize. On March 30, 2010 we will provide elements that will be required to be in the film. (Phrases, logos, props, buzz words, product placement, etc. You will have 24 hours to complete and load your film to your profile on www.aprilfest.com by NOON on March 31, 2010.
Online Voting for the best film will take place April 1 - 30th, 2010. The online challenge film with the most votes will win the Award. You can draw on any resources you can muster to make your film. You are only limited by time and your own imagination. But remember, if you’re doing something illegal, filming it doesn’t make it legal. Be safe - don’t put your actors in danger - think twice before attempting any stunts. It’s only a movie; it’s not worth ending up in the hospital or jail. And if you do, you’re on your own. You can only count on us to send flowers and call your mother. (Mother-Calling guarantee not implied.) Films can have dialog or not - your choice. Though we would advise you to do your best to tell your story visually.
Dialog is a crutch, and unless you’ve brought a proper microphone and know how to use it, you’re probably better off with less talking. Credits, voice over, animation, music. special effects - do what you want. You must have the rights to all music used in your film. You must also use at least one song from our music library provided by our composers.
We ask for non-exclusive rights to show them on the internet or in future challenges. You will receive a list of items such as key words, catch phrases, logos, product placements and video stamps along with your Title and Genre.
Export to www.aprilfest.com on your film profile page in the highest quality possible. We do not supply any camera or editing equipment. You're on your own. We can, however, help connect you with other filmmakers to collaborate with on www.filmchallengeinc.com.
