OFFICIAL RULES
Your team will have exactly 24 hours to complete your film, including conception, writing, arguing, shooting, fighting, editing, scoring, making up, etc. The films are due at the deadline specified. 24 hours = 24 hours. There will be no extensions. Art cannot exist without deadlines.
Films are limited to 5 MINUTES IN LENGTH - INCLUDING CREDITS. Violating this rule will disqualify you from winning the big prize.
You can draw on any resources you can muster to make your film. You are only limited by time and your own imagination. But remember, if you?re doing something illegal, filming it doesn?t make it legal. Be safe - don?t put your actors in danger - think twice before attempting any stunts. It?s only a movie, it?s not worth ending up in the hospital or jail. And if you do, you?re on your own. You can only count on us to send flowers and call your mother. (Mother-Calling guarantee not implied.)
Films can have dialog or not - your choice. Though we would advise you to do your best to tell your story visually. Dialog is a crutch, and unless you?ve brought a proper microphone and know how to use it, you?re probably better off with less talking.
Credits, voice over, animation, music. special effects - do what you want. You must have the rights to all of your own music or us the music we have provided through Brad Chiet Music
You own your film. We only ask for non-exclusive rights to show them on our the internet or in future challenges. We have may plans for a compilation DVD distribution. .
You will receive a 2GB USB Memory Stick along with your Title and Genre. ALL Films should be turned in on these Memory Sticks. Plase don't brind DVDs or DV tapes. Export a full-resolution .mov file from Final Cut or iMovie. Considering international video formats, this is the easiest for all of us. This stuff gets kind of technical, so be sure and talk to Mark about your format if you have any questions.
We do not supply any camera or editing equipment. You're on your own. We can, however, help connect you with other filmmakers to colaborate with.
